Fundraiser: Trent University Chinese Students' Association presents a Lushan Earthquake Fundraiser in Peterborough. Hundreds of people lost their lives and thousands lost their homes in the Lushan Earthquake on April 20, 2013 and the Trent University Chinese Students’ Association is doing what it can to help people in need. The magnitude 7 quake struck near Ya’an, in Sichuan Province, near one of the last reserves where pandas live in the wild. Several Trent students come from the region and feel it is important for the University and local communities to understand more about their home, and to join in reaching out to help with relief and reconstruction in the disaster area. Students will be at Trent’s Bata Library and other locations around campus, as well as at locations in the Peterborough community from May 13 to 26, collecting donations for the relief effort. This national fundraising walk raises funds required to train Dog Guides and is held in communities across Canada.
